Privacy policy
Last updated: June 2026 · Applies to this PekeTube instance at peketube.amian.es
1. Data controller
PekeTube is a personal / family-use software project, not a commercial product from Google or YouTube. This instance is operated by the administrator of the amian.es domain. There is no company or commercial support team behind the service.
2. What the app does
PekeTube provides a YouTube-like interface with parental controls (blocks, PIN, history, settings). You can use it in guest mode or by connecting your Google account to access subscriptions and your YouTube API quota.
3. Google user data — disclosure (OAuth & YouTube API)
This section describes how PekeTube accesses, uses, stores, shares, and deletes Google user data, in compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy and the Google APIs Terms of Service. Google sign-in is optional; guest mode does not access your Google account.
3.1 Data accessed
When you choose "Sign in with Google", PekeTube requests these OAuth scopes:
openid, email, profile— your Google account ID (subject), email address, display name, and profile picture URL.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly— read-only access to your YouTube data via the YouTube Data API v3, including:
- Your channel subscriptions (channel IDs, titles, thumbnails).
- Your subscription activity feed (notifications of new uploads from channels you follow).
- Public video and channel metadata needed to browse and play content (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, publish dates, view counts, duration, category, and YouTube status flags such as "made for kids" and embeddability).
- Search results and playlist items (e.g. a channel's uploads) returned by YouTube for queries you perform in the app.
- Comment threads on videos, only when the "show comments" setting is enabled in the parental panel.
PekeTube does not request write access to YouTube. It cannot upload, edit, delete, rate, or comment on videos on your behalf.
3.2 Data usage
Google user data is used only to provide and improve the in-app experience you request:
- Authenticate you and keep your session active.
- Call the YouTube Data API on your behalf (using your personal API quota) to show home feed, search, subscriptions, notifications, channel pages, related videos, and video details.
- Embed and play videos through the official YouTube player.
- Link server-side parental controls (hashed PIN, block lists, watch history) to your Google account when you are signed in.
Google user data is not used to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, sold, rented, or used for targeted advertising.
3.3 Data sharing
PekeTube does not sell, rent, or disclose Google user data to third parties for their independent marketing or advertising purposes.
- Google LLC: data is obtained from and sent to Google through OAuth 2.0 and the YouTube Data API, and video playback is delivered through Google's embedded YouTube player, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Instance administrator: the operator of this instance (peketube.amian.es) can access data stored on the server solely to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
No other third-party analytics, advertising, or data-broker services receive Google user data from PekeTube.
3.4 Data storage & protection
- OAuth tokens (access and refresh tokens) are stored in an encrypted server-side session cookie. They are not written to the application database.
- Account-linked server data (Google user ID, email if available, hashed parental PIN, block lists, watch history) is stored on the server that hosts this instance.
- Local browser data (settings, caches, guest block lists) is stored in IndexedDB on your device.
- Connections to this site use HTTPS. The parental PIN is stored only as a salted cryptographic hash, not in plain text.
3.5 Data retention & deletion
- Your sign-in session cookie expires after up to 30 days of inactivity or when you sign out.
- Server data linked to your Google account is kept while you continue to use the signed-in features.
- Delete your data: in the parental panel → Settings → reset area, use the option to wipe server data for your Google account (PIN, block lists, and watch history). This also clears local caches on the current device. You can clear remaining browser data via your browser settings.
- Revoke access: at any time remove PekeTube from your Google account at Google Account → Security → Third-party access. After revocation, PekeTube can no longer call the YouTube API on your behalf.
- To request deletion of any remaining server records, contact the instance administrator via the contact page.
4. Other data (non-Google)
- Guest mode: without signing in, searches and the home feed may use a project YouTube API key (shared quota). No Google account data is accessed.
- Technical logs: the hosting environment may record IP addresses, timestamps, and requested URLs for security and troubleshooting. PekeTube does not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
5. Purpose and legal basis
Data is used solely to provide app functionality (play and list videos, parental filters, history, and settings). The legal basis is your consent when signing in with Google and, for local data, the service you request by using the application.
6. Children and parental control
PekeTube is intended for family use under adult supervision. The parental panel (PIN) limits configuration changes and blocks. Videos and comments come from YouTube; the responsible adult should configure filters and blocks for the child.
7. Your rights
In addition to the deletion and revocation options in section 3.5, you can sign out of PekeTube, clear local browser data, or contact the site administrator for questions about data on this instance (see About and the contact page).
8. Changes
This policy may be updated if functionality or legal requirements change. The update date appears at the top of this document.
